Krull (1983)

Director: Peter Yates
Starring: Ken Marshall, Lysette Anthony, Freddie Jones

Synopsis:
A prince must find an ancient weapon and assemble warriors to rescue his bride from an alien conqueror.

Impressions:
This is a fairly iconic entry in 80s fantasy. Now, it's by no means perfect, far from it, but there's plenty to like here. It's a grand quest epic with some really neat designs. I particularly like the Beast's design. Ironically, the two leads are about the weakest aspect of the film, but they're offset by some really good supporting characters like Freddie Jones as Ynyr the Old One and Bernard Bresslaw as Rell the Cyclops. And, hey, you've also got Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane among the bandits who join Colwyn, which is cool. And let's not forget the music by James Horner. Yes, it may not be perfect, but it's a fun film and definitely worth a watch.
