Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)

Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)

Director: Kevin Yagher
Starring: Bruce Ramsay, Valentina Vargas, Doug Bradley

Synopsis:
A space station is stormed by security forces seeking to apprehend the mad Dr. Merchant, who is trying to unlock the Lament Configuration. He explains that he's trying to destroy the Lament Configuration once and for all, the duty of his bloodline because his ancestor was the one who originally built it.

Impressions:
Lore-wise, there are some interesting things going on in this film. You get to see the origins of the Lament Configuration and the concept of the descendants of Phillip LeMarchand battling the forces of Hell has a nice Castlevania feel to it. There's this one great shot of Pinhead where he's cloaked in shadows with the light shining off the tips of the pins. It's the best thing about the whole movie, which probably sounds depressing.

This is the last theatrical release in the series and the canonical end of the timeline, so taking that into consideration, fans of the franchise will probably want to see it through, but otherwise it's not worth it. If you want Hellraiser in space, watch Event Horizon.
