Impressions:
I just happened to stumble across this being aired for free on Toei's Youtube channel, so I gave it a watch. What we have here is basically a scifi buddy cop story that dabbles in themes of transhumanism and the human spirit of adventure. You can definitely tell this was a story written by Gen Urobuchi. There is a good dynamic between main characters Angela and Dingo that toys with the respective merits and demerits of analog and digital humanity. The animation is done in cel-shaded CG that looks pretty good but still has a bit of the jank we tend to see in Japanese 3D animation projects. Action set pieces are solid and mech designs are pretty good as well. It's not an outstanding movie, but it does its job well and I think most any scifi fan will appreciate it. Give it a watch.
