A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014)

A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014)

Director: Scott Frank
Starring: Liam Neeson, Dan Stevens, David Harbour

Synopsis:
A recovering alcoholic private detective takes on a job to hunt down serial kidnapper/murderers who target women associated with drug traffickers.

Impressions:
This is a decent gritty neo-noir that banks a lot on Liam Neeson doing his Taken shtick which has been a big part of his roles in recent years. He plays the gruff antihero well and there's a fairly nice dynamic with the street urchin partner played by Brian 'Astro' Bradley. The darkness of the subject matter makes me think of Silence of the Lambs, only with far less flamboyant villains. It's not an amazing film, but if you're a Liam Neeson fan and/or you're in the mood for some neo-noir, it may be up your alley.
