Synopsis:
Four high school girls find themselves stranded on a desert island.
Impressions:
I was brought to this series by a screencap that demanded context. What I found was a fairly legit survival story in an ecchi package for mass market appeal. How you feel about the ecchi factor is a matter of personal taste, but it never gets intolerably gratuitous. Most of the survival tips are entirely genuine and apparently the original author is a survivalist, so I definitely liked that aspect of it. Our lead Homare is quite entertaining with her incredible survival skills offset by her hilarious social ineptitude. The other three girls are deadweight at first, but they do grow along the way and act as foils for Homare. I also thought it was a nice casting gag having Akio Otsuka (Metal Gear Solid's Solid Snake) voice Homare's father. The half-length episodes provide a suitable container for the story so you don't have to worry about the pacing ever getting bogged down. In the final tally, it may not be appropriate for everyone, but I enjoyed it and think it's worth a watch.
