His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th (2009)

Director: Daniel Farrands

Synopsis:
A look back at the Friday the 13th franchise hosted by special effects artist Tom Savini.

Impressions:
I enjoyed the insights that you get in Never Sleep Again, so I wanted to give Friday the 13th a similar shot. Now, there's a much longer documentary called Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th (based on the book of the same name), but I don't like the franchise enough to spend six hours on it, so this 90-minute serving is just right. We get a nice overview of the series with plenty of nice little behind-the-scenes stories. Having Tom Savini as the host is a nice touch. Possibly because I've always liked behind-the-scenes stuff, I found this to be an enjoyable watch. If you're a more passionate Friday the 13th fan than me, you should really get a lot out of it. Give it a watch.
