Attack on Titan - Volume 32 (2020)

Author/Artist: Hajime Isayama
Publisher: KC Magazine

Synopsis:
The survivors of the Marleyans and the Survey Corps join forces to stop Eren.

Story/Characters:
Well, now that Eren has made himself the enemy of all humanity, you've got three choices: 1) be one of his psycho cultists, 2) get squished by the Titans, or 3) stand against him. Most of our characters have chosen Option 3. This presents us with the opportunity for the Paradisians and the Marleyans to hash things out a bit. It's an unsteady alliance, but when the choices are stick together or watch the world get flattened, you can't be too picky about your allies. We then move to an attack on the harbor held by the Yeager Faction. We get quite the battle out of the deal with some good tension built up before everything goes wild. We then close on a chapter that gives us a view on some of the stuff that went on in the background with Eren's plan before we get to the showdown with the humanity's first line of defense and the Wall Titans.

Art:
The hallmarks of the series' art are all in place here. Wonky facial expressions with occasional bursts of hard-hitting action. The attack on the harbor is pretty good.

Other:
Things escalate rather quickly in the high school AU. Everyone's going nuts. It's great.

Conclusion:
This volume starts a bit slow as our uneasy alliance tries to find some sort of equilibrium before riding out into battle. The battle itself has some good intensity and the final chapter warms us up for the big finale (presumably). I like the cliffhanger. While this was overall a pretty good read, it didn't hit quite as hard as the previous volume, so I don't rate it as highly. It's worth a read at least and collectors aren't going to stop now, so there you have it.
