Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)

Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)

Director: Tony Randel
Starring: Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, Kenneth Cranham

Synopsis:
After the bloody events of the first film, a traumatized Kirsty Cotton is institutionalized under the care of Dr. Channard, a psychologist with a particular interest in her experiences. Meanwhile, Kirsty sees a vision of her father being tormented in Hell and must brave the horrors once more to save him.

Impressions:
It isn't often that a sequel feels like an organic extension of the original, but this is one such case. While I wouldn't consider this to be equal to the original, it is a worthy successor and if you like the first film, you'll like this. Fans of Aliens might think it's cool that William Hope (Gorman) plays Kyle MacRae, a doctor sympathetic to Kirsty.

Performances are solid and the lore of the franchise is advanced. There is something that happens at the end that may annoy some fans, but other than that, it's a good watch to be had.
