John Wick, Chapter 2 (2017)

John Wick, Chapter 2 (2017)

Director: Chad Stahelski
Starring: Keanu Reeves, Ricardo Scamercio, Ian McShane

Synopsis:
Having settled his feud with the Tarasovs, John Wick seeks to leave the underworld again, but he is called on to pay back an old debt and refusal is not an option.

Impressions:
The first film gave us a lot of brutal, stylish action and glimpses at a fascinating underworld society. I mentioned in my review of the first film how intriguing the world was and one thing I I wanted was to see more of it. Well, the sequel gives me just that, so I'm happy on that note. The stakes are higher this time, the set pieces more elaborate, and there are some stronger worthy opponents in the form of Common's Cassian and Ruby Rose's Ares. We also get to reunite Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne, which is nice. This pretty well has everything I liked about the first movie plus the things extra that I wanted, so I have no complaints. It's definitely worth a watch at the very least, especially if you liked the original.
