Impressions:
Yet another entry in my "Youtube Sent Me" anime series. The clip I saw indicated that there'd be a decent sense of humor and the first episode promptly bore that out. Now, if they had focused more on the lighter side, I think it would've done better, as the action drama doesn't really break any new ground, but you could consider this more of a love letter to classic super robot series rather than an innovator in the subgenre. I did like the concept of twin drive mecha that touch on a variety of different kinds of relationships. Speaking of relationships, there's quite the tangled web among the characters that I really wish got explored in greater depth. The pacing of the story is almost as hyperactive as all the Gainaxing (as this is a very fanservice-heavy, but it's more silly than sexy). The fact that the main couple involves a high school girl married to a man at least twice her age, but their relationship is quite chaste, to the point where their marriage doesn't even seem that necessary except to match the naming convention of the main robots. It can be a bit of a mixed bag, but there might be just enough appeal to warrant a watch.
