Synopsis:
It seems like a dream come true when high school student Masato Oosuki is invited to participate in the beta of a new VMMORPG, but all that changes when he learns that his mother is coming along for the ride.

Impressions:
For those of you who have read my review of the first volume of the manga, I'm going to be repeating myself, but when I first head about this series, I was hoping this series would mercilessly skewer the premise of the average isekai trash by having the protagonist's mother utterly outclass him and thwart any harem dreams. I pretty much got exactly what I wanted. It's amusing to me to see complaints from viewers who are obviously daggone kids who react to this story pretty much the way you'd expect kids to react to this kind of story. The way that Mamako is played for fanservice has led to this series being dubbed "milfsekai". It's more than a little creepy that there's this pseudo-incestuous dynamic going on, but at least none of it's coming from Masato's side. I won't claim either the storytelling or the comedy is first-rate, but there's good interplay among the characters and it subverted isekai tropes the way I wanted (as opposed to some of the other isekai trash this season that played it all brutally, boringly straight). While there are better subversions of the subgenre out there like Konosuba and Re:Zero, I still think this is worth a watch. Give it a shot.
