Impressions:
I was pulled into this world right away and then we had this shocking swerve in Episode 2 that had me questioning the whole thing. I stuck with it, though, and I'm glad I did. Two very different kinds of stories, even different art styles, ultimately manage to gel together quite well to make one of the best series of the season. There's a bit of a Gurren Lagann feel, to the point where I originally though this was a Trigger production. (Kaburagi is even voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi.) There's a good dynamic between Natsume and Kaburagi and excellent production values. This one is definitely worth having, so be sure to get it.
