Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack (2023)

Director: Shinji Ushiro
Studio: OLM Team Inoue
Starring: Sumire Uesaka, Daiki Yamashita, Mikako Komatsu
Episodes: 12

Synopsis:
Nagatoro continues her torment of Sempai, but how long can the status quo between them hold out?

Impressions:
I wouldn't consider this series to be my favorite of the teasing girl subgenre, but it did carve out its own niche, which was enough to keep me interested. Major features of this season are Sempai's efforts to improve himself and his relationship with Nagatoro becoming more explicitly romantic. Don't expect any development in leaps and bounds. This is a Japanese romcom, after all. Although you'll hear a lot of "Kimoi! Kimoi!" from her, Nagatoro's torment of Sempai is toned down significantly, which may disappoint some viewers who feel that Nagatoro's harder edge is what made her stand out from the competition. In exchange, we get to explore Nagatoro as a martial artist and her competitiveness there. As the next school year starts later in the season, we get the introduction of a new kouhai who mixes things up a bit. In the final tally, this season lacks the punch of the one before it, but if you enjoy the characters, it's well enough worth a watch.
