Man Hunt (1941)

Director: Fritz Lang
Starring: Walter Pidgeon, Joan Bennett, George Sanders
Synopsis:
A British hunter accused of attempting to assassinate Hitler is pursued by Nazi agents.
Impressions:
Who puts a foreign head of state in their rifle sights for a lark? Captain Alan Thorndike, apparently. At first, I thought he was the worst spy ever, but it turns out that he's just a very dumb big game hunter who wanted to fool around with the most dangerous game. What follows is a pretty cool game of cat and mouse where even Thorndike's native England isn't safe. Walter Pidgeon is pretty good in the lead and he's got a perfect antagonist in the form of George Sanders. The ideological sparring is interesting, particularly in the propaganda context of the early years of the war. It's an enjoyable watch and I recommend it.
