The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom (2025)

Director: Shu Watanabe
Studio: Troyca
Starring: Yui Ishikawa, Kaede Hondo, Takuya Sato
Episodes: 12

Synopsis:
The Saint of Ziltonia, who draws more envy than praise, is traded to a neighboring kingdom after her fiancé the Second Prince breaks off their engagement.

Impressions:
Take a Cinderella premise to the point of absurdity and you get the start of this series. I was hoping the author was intentionally being silly taking things so far, but I worry that it's supposed to be taken seriously. That was nearly grounds for me dropping the series, but the art style was appealing enough and Yui Ishikawa was doing her thing as the protagonist, so I gave it a little more leeway. It would've been nice if there was a little more nuance to the plot to give genuine teeth to the conflict, but if you take it for what it is, it's not all that bad. There's some good stuff to be had, but it could stand to have some more maturity to it. I would say it's worth giving a shot, but because its weaknesses mean that I can't quite give it a full endorsement. Take it or leave it.
