The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)

Director: Guy Ritchie
Starring: Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson

Synopsis:
An unconventional unit is formed to perform a sabotage operation on the Germans in West Africa.

Impressions:
Imagine if Inglourious Basterds and The Man from UNCLE had a baby, not quite as sharp but still fun to be around. That's this movie. If you like lots of carnage, you should be fairly well satisfied. The main cast is fairly appealing, but the lead villain falls short and despite a number of complications along the way, the challenge level is fairly low and the setbacks don't really test our heroes' mettle that much. The scenario plays for tension but didn't quite deliver for me. The soundtrack has a similar feel to The Man from UNCLE, to the point where I thought the two films had the same composer, but that wasn't the case. I won't deny being a bit underwhelmed, but if you're looking for some stylish, bloody WWII, this isn't too bad. I wish it could've been something more, but I'd still say it's worth a watch.
