Impressions:
I enjoyed the first season of the TV series quite a bit, so I was fully onboard for a cinematic outing of everyone's favorite man made of chainsaws. This particular segment of the story is just the right size for its container and the big battle has a suitably dramatic scale to capitalize a big-screen presentation. I appreciate the somewhat experimental approach with the animation. It really is a nice flex by Mappa. As for the story, it's interesting how Denji is isolated from Aki and Power to maximize his vulnerability and although things do happen rather quickly, I did like the development of his relationship with Reze. I want to give extra props for Reina Ueda for her performance as Reze. There's some quality character stuff and plenty of the big bloody spectacle you've come to expect from the series. Fans are well served by this one and I'm happy to recommend it for your collection.
