Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (2010)

[精武风云-陈真]
Director: Andrew Lau
Starring: Donnie Yen, Qi Shu, Anthony Chau-Sang Wong
Synopsis:
After faking his death in Europe, Chen Zhen takes a new identity working as the manager of a Shanghai nightclub while resisting Japanese occupation.
Impressions:
Just to clear things up, this is the sequel to a 1994 remake of Bruce Lee's Fists of Fury that starred Jet Li, while Donnie Yen is reprising the role of Chen Zhen from the TV spinoff that followed. As you might expect, there's plenty of good action to be had, and I also rather liked all the intrigue going on. It feels almost like a Chinese Batman story. Given that the Batman shorts from the 40s pitted the Caped Crusader against the Japanese, it may be a more apt comparison than you think. Even if you might think a sequel is unnecessary, it's still worth a watch.
