Zombieland (2009)

Director: Ruben Fleischer
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone
Synopsis:
A nebbish shutin takes to the road amid a zombie apocalypse while strictly adhering to a set of rules to ensure his survival.
Impressions:
Toward the tail-end of the zombie boom of the Aughts, you had to do something special to stand out in the crowd and this film does just that. While this is primarily a comedy and quite a good one at that, it does have some decent moments of horror and suspense, some nice action set pieces (especially for the finale) and a little bit of genuine heart as well. Columbus and Tallahassee are good foils for each other and Woody Harrelson in particular stands out for the energy he puts into the role. There's a great celebrity cameo that I won't spoil if you don't know about it. The effects are quite good as well, so if you like quality gore and carnage in your zombie flicks, you won't be disappointed. Even if you're still feeling some post-boom zombie fatigue, this one is well worth watching.
