Nobody 2 (2025)

Nobody 2 (2025)

Director: Timo Tjahjanto
Starring: Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, John Ortiz

Synopsis:
Hutch is back in the life and it is straining his relationship with his family, so he plans a summer vacation to an amusement park from his childhood, only for things to go awry.

Impressions:
I'd heard this one was hit by sequelitis, mostly being a retread of the first film. I made a comparison to Home Alone for the previous film, so if the analogy helps, this is the Home Alone 2 to the Home Alone of the first Nobody. If you liked the first film, there's enough to like about this one too, but there are somewhat diminishing returns. You still get some good action set pieces, but as far as the characters are concerned, it feels a lot like we've been reset to where we were at the start of the first film. There's a little bit of toe-dipping in the waters of such ideas as Brady going down the same path as Hutch, something he wants to avoid but doesn't really know how to accomplish. Although her screentime is brief, Sharon Stone brings the same psycopathy and dancing ability that Aleksei Serebryakov brought to the previous film. It was also mildly interesting seeing Colin Hanks avert his more common nice guy roles as the a-hole sheriff. While the film is a bit of a step down, I think it's still worth a watch. If you liked the first film, you should like this one too, enough to feel it's worth your time.
