Synopsis:
Marlowe takes the case of a wealthy old widow who believes a rare coin in her collection has been stolen by her daughter-in-law, but the case proves to be far more complicated than that.
Impressions:
Partially because I really didn't like 1947's The Brasher Dubloon and partially because I've really been enjoying going back to the source novels, I picked this up shortly after finishing Farewell, My Lovely. The plot here is a little more cohesive than the previous novel but perhaps still a little more complicated than it needs to be. It does all pretty well come together in the end and I suppose all the threads are basically a convention of the genre. What I enjoyed most was the dialog. It's quite sharp and the back-and-forth is a lot of fun. Overall, it's quite good and I strongly recommend it for a read at the very least.
