Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)

Director: Frank Lloyd
Starring: Charles Laughton, Clark Gable, Franchot Tone
Synopsis:
The acting lieutenant of a ship leads a mutiny against their tyrannical captain.
Impressions:
If you know the actual history of Bounty incident, this story will seem like quite the hatchet job on ol' Captain Bligh, but he's given due credit for his amazing feat of guiding the loyal members of his crew all the way to Timor, only to be conflated with Captain Edwards of the Pandora, who may have actually warranted the reputation given to Bligh. Setting aside this contumely, Charles Laughton plays the role of Bligh with his usual aplomb. Clark Gable is also rather good as Fletcher Christian, as was Franchot Tone as Roger Byam (a stand-in for the real-life midshipman Peter Heywood). For all its historical inaccuracy, this is a well-made and entertaining film and certainly encourage you to give it a watch.
