Foreign Correspondent (1940)

Foreign Correspondent (1940)

Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Starring: Joel McCrea, Laraine Day, Herbert Marshall

Synopsis:
An American reporter sent to London to cover the growing tensions in Europe stumbles on a plot to speed the region to war.

Impressions:
While this movie is a little slow getting started, once you get the first wham shot, a solid thriller follows. I liked the web of conspiracy and also that George Sanders was effectively playing the Saint in this. It may not be quite as polished as Hitchcock's more famous films, but it's still well worth watching, particularly if you have an interest in films about the buildup to World War II as it was happening.
