At Sword's Point (1952)

At Sword's Point (1952)

Director: Lewis Allen
Starring: Cornel Wilde, Maureen O'Hara, Robert Douglas

Synopsis:
The children of the Musketeers answer the Queen's call for aid when the Duc of Lavalle plots to usurp the throne of France.

Impressions:
This would be a fairly unremarkable Three Musketeers spinoff if wasn't for the fact that Maureen O'Hara is cast as Athos' daughter and shows off some decent swashbuckling chops. The romance angle with Cornel Wilde's D'Artagnan Jr. doesn't have much development and isn't particularly satisfying. The characters and story are okay but not exceptional. The swashbuckling is pretty good, though, so if you're a fan of swashbucklers, it's decent enough. If you like Maureen O'Hara and want to see her in action girl mode, there's extra incentive for you. Give it a watch.
