Director: Guy Hamilton
Starring: Robert Mitchum, France Nuyen, Barry Sullivan
Synopsis:
A Silver Star recipient is selected to defend an American officer charged with murdering a British NCO.
Impressions:
I'm rather fond of trial stories and this is a good one. You take a fairly cut-and-dry case (or so it seems) and a fraught political situation, then plop a hapless family friend of the CG right in the middle. Uncovering the truth behind the case is a comparatively small matter. What's really interesting is all rigging that goes on behind the scenes. Robert Mitchum is solid in the lead and Keenan Wynn delivers an impressive performance as the deranged Lieutenant Winston. It's also nice to see France Nuyen and Trevor Howard. This is a rather good film and I definitely recommend giving it a watch.
