Impressions:
I'd heard that this movie was highly regarded in the Godzilla franchise, so I've been wanting to give it a watch. I do appreciate that goes into the human side of the plot, but I feel they might have overcomplicated things a bit with the three-way industrial espionage war, the civilian and the military sides of the government wrangling the situation, Dr. Shiragami doing his own thing after pulling out from his cooperation with the Saradians, and then the whole deal with the psychics as well. With all this going on, there's a decent balance being struck, but I think a more streamlined approach would've given us stronger characterization. That being said, I do like how the events build up to the creation of Biollante and its clash with Godzilla. Biollante's second form and the fight that goes with it is indeed one of the better ones in the franchise. All told, it pretty well lives up to its reputation and is worth a watch.
