Howling IV: The Original Nightmare (1988)

Director: John Hough
Starring: Romy Windsor, Michael T Weiss, Antony Hamilton

Synopsis:
A high-strung writer is taken to a cabin out in the country to calm her nerves, but then she starts investigating the mysterious circumstances of the nearby town.

Impressions:
I guess the subtitle is meant to indicate that this hearkens back to the original story. Well, like the original movie, it's very slow going but not nearly as competent. There are no stand-out performances to keep you going and the hastily slapped together climax in the last ten minutes doesn't offer much payoff. There is one of the most bizarre takes on a werewolf transformation I've seen, which has to count for something. There's nothing redeemable here. Just skip it.
