Impressions:
I won't say this is my favorite adaptation of this story, but I do like it quite a bit. It does a good job of building the suspense and the idea of setting the story at a military base is brilliant. What better environment for the pod people than one where conformism is the standard and individuality is discouraged? It also plays well to a civvie audience where there tends to be a sense of unease around the military anyway. I also like how the pod people are a little better at the masquerade than in other versions of the story. You can still tell they're off, but they're capable of a little more lateral thinking than you would expect from a hive mind. It's not perfect, but it does some neat things with the concept and is certainly worth a watch.
