From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Director: Robert Rodriguez
Starring: George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Keitel

Synopsis:
Two murderers on the lam take a family hostage to smuggle them into Mexico, where they stop at a strip club that is more than it seems.

Impressions:
I've always found the close collaboration between Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez to be interesting. Say what you will about their films, but it's cool that two filmmakers with such similar interests can contribute so much to each other's work. It's also interesting to see their styles juxtaposed against each other. The first part is very much a Tarantino movie while the second part more Rodriguez's style. George Clooney and Tarantino are quite good as the Gecko Brothers and Harvey Keitel stands out as Jacob Fuller, a pastor who's lost his faith. They do some interesting things to portray Richie's insanity and it's really creepy. I also can't fail to credit Tom Savini and Fred Williamson for their performances once the sierra hits the fan and Selma Hayek is quite memorable as well. It's often vulgar and violent, but if you've got the stomach for it, this really is an interesting film. Yes, I've used "interesting" a lot in this review. I guess you know what I think about it. ^o^ Bearing the aforementioned disclaimer in mind, I'd say this one is worth a watch.
