Impressions:
It can be easy to underestimate this film as a cheesy creature feature, but it's actually rather cleverly written with good pacing, character dynamics, management of the stakes, and setup and payoff. This makes it fairly rewarding if you're paying attention to appreciate all the work that's gone into making the movie work. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward have good chemistry as a pair of resourceful everymen and the supporting cast is fairly colorful. The design and creature effects for the Graboids are quite good. which are things you really need to land for a film like this. If you're looking for monsters in the desert, this is one of your best choices out there. It's definitely worth a watch at the very least.
