Eagle Eye (2008)

Eagle Eye (2008)

Director: DJ Caruso
Starring: Shia LeBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson

Synopsis:
The unambitious twin brother of an Air Force officer finds himself framed for terrorism and forced to follow the instructions of a mysterious woman along with a paralegal whose son is held hostage.

Impressions:
It may not be so much the case any more, but there was a time when kicking around Shia LeBeouf was a rather popular pastime. The fact that he played some rather unlikable characters in some films that spark some serious nerd rage can cloud a more objective look at him as an actor. Honestly, if you give him a decent role, you'll get a decent performance out of him. He does fine here. This film is a rather good thriller that makes good use of the surveillance state, much like Enemy of the State. I won't spoil the twist, but things run at a good clip, though you may or may not have much patience for the contentious relationship between Jerry and Rachel that holds out through the second act. You may find some annoyances, but it's a decent enough watch.
