Jumper (2008)

Director: Doug Liman
Starring: Hayden Christensen, Samuel L Jackson, Jamie Bell

Synopsis:
A young man with the ability to teleport finds himself hunted by a secret order that seeks to wipe out people like him.

Impressions:
I hadn't heard good things about this movie, but I was curious to see Hayden Christensen in something other than the Prequel Trilogy, so I gave this a shot. With better direction, he's capable of delivering a more human performance. At one point he runs across Kristen Stewart in a cameo appearance and I was tempted to remark at my surprise that the bad acting vortex they formed didn't trigger the apocalypse. Seriously, though, he isn't bad in this. He's overshadowed by the far more entertaining Jamie Bell, though. The story is interesting enough and there's some clever use of the teleportation power. It's not a great movie, but it's better than I was expecting. I don't imagine too many people would regret seeing it, but I'd understand a less than enthusiastic reception. Take it or leave it.
