The Rundown (2003)

Director: Peter Berg
Starring: The Rock, Sean William Scott, Christopher Walken

Synopsis:
A debt collector wanting to get out of the game is given a final assignment by his boss, to travel to Brazil to bring his treasure hunter son home.

Impressions:
Over twenty years later, it feels odd seeing the Rock right when his film career was just starting now that many people are sick of seeing him. There is nothing too remarkable about this film. It has the typical no-nonsense tough guy paired with an annoying partner and all the misadventures as they slowly become an unlikely team. There are some pretty nice action set pieces, especially the one with the rebels where Ernie Reyes Jr.'s performance is particularly memorable. The most fun of all is of course Christopher Walken as the villain. Without him, I easily could have been inclined to take my rating down a peg. While we're seeing a bit of a revival of good ol' action movies, there was a bit of a dry spell we were having, and while the Aughts weren't as golden as the 80s or 90s for the genre, you might find this works as a bit of a comfort watch, so give it a watch.
