Impressions:
I might not have picked this one up if it wasn't for lead female Waguri going viral. I was seeing her pop up all over the place, so naturally I had to find out where she came from. Now, I probably would've gotten to this even without that just based on CloverWorks' track record. What we get it a nice little love story with a bit of a Romeo and Juliet vibe with the two schools that go together like oil and water. While our leads aren't that immersed in the rivalry themselves, those around them are and that proves to be one of the main conflicts, but overcoming prejudices and building mutual understanding. Our male lead Tsumugi fits into a familiar mold of a sensitive soul with a scary facade and sorting out his inferiority complex is a big part of his character arc while Waguri works on her own confidence issues, the interaction between the two of them putting each other on a better track. I won't say that it's anything groundbreaking, but it's a solid story with good character work that's beautifully brought to the screen. If you're looking for a love story that properly delivers, this one's worth a watch if not a place in your collection.
