Impressions:
I'm not ashamed to admit that my reasons for checking this out are incredibly shallow. I see Elf girls on the poster and I'm probably going to check it out. What follows is something of an inferior Overlord, but I do like the strategy game mechanics and the conceit of other competing game mechanics being introduced later on is really intriguing. Takuto is a bit of a weenie, which a lot of people aren't going to want in their protagonist, but the juxtaposition of this shadowy dark entity with his childish way of speaking and acting does have a certain charm to it. The evil on display is of a mostly "safe edgy" variety which probably plays well to a younger teen demographic, so I'm not going to complain too much seeing as how far I'm out of the target demographic. It at least doesn't have the school shooter energy exuded by some edgelord series out there. Despite being a bit underwhelming, I did enjoy this well enough and I have to give them credit for making an ara-ara mommy giant mantis voice by none other than Kikuko Inoue. Amazing. Final verdict: There's enough worthwhile here to warrant a watch. Give it a shot.
