Phone Booth (2002)

Phone Booth (2002)

Director: Joel Schumacher
Starring: Colin Farrell, Kiefer Sutherland, Forest Whitaker

Synopsis:
A sleazy publicist is held hostage in a phone booth by a sniper.

Impressions:
This is a cool little thriller that had been batted around since the 60s and came out at about the last plausible moment (unless the film was made as a period piece). Actually, the fact that the movie finally got made as pay phones were vanishing works rather nicely. I have to give Colin Farrell credit for taking a very unlikeable character and actually rendering him sympathetic once he gets thoroughly broken down. Kiefer Sutherland delivers plenty of menace as the Caller and Forest Whitaker does well as the police captain trying to make sense of it all. I really liked this movie and would readily recommend it. Give it a watch.
