Reign of Fire (2002)

Reign of Fire (2002)

Director: Rob Bowman
Starring: Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey, Izabella Scorupco

Synopsis:
With humanity on the brink of extinction with the proliferation of dragons, American mercenaries travel to England to stop the infestation at its source, clashing with the local leader of a community of survivors.

Impressions:
Who can resist a post-apocalyptic tale of Batman, King Leonidas and Matthew McConaughey vs. frickin' dragons? I sure can't, I can tell you that. This is a good postapoc action flick with some rather good effects for the dragons and strong performances by the leads. McConaughey changes up his usual romcom charmer act as the blood knight Van Zan and there's a good dynamic between Bale and Butler, who actually get to use their real accents, which is cool. Basically, if you're onboard for the premise, you'll like this movie. If not, you'll probably nitpick it to death. I say it's worth seeing, so give it a watch.
