What's New

I didn't maintain my viewing schedule for the Fall 2025 anime season, so I've fallen behind and have to catch up (all while the Winter 2026 season is already underway). However, I do have a couple entries for you. First and likely the best, from Science Saru, it's Sanda. Next is one I slept on until it had wrapped (and ironically finished it before series I was already halfway into specifically because it was the first to wrap), A Wild Last Boss Appears! Switching gears to movies, I still have a couple airplane movies to go, but today's selection are movies I watched while back home. First is a buddy action adventure double feature of Season of the Witch and The Great Wall. And if those aren't violent enough for you, let's take a trip to Finland for Sisu. There are six more movies to go from my trip and about a dozen partially watched Fall 2025 series I'll try to get caught up on. And as I've missed my deadline for TKoH two weeks in a row, I'll be moving on to CoP. Hopefully I'll have more luck there. Stay tuned.

I've recently spent a fair bit of time in the air recently and if I'm not sleeping during this time, it means airplane movies. Given my general disenchantment with current cinema, I'm rather thankful that there's a decent selection of older films. For this trip, that includes the original Blade Runner and Casablanca. Now, despite my dim view of most of the cinematic output these days, maybe it's not all a wash. I also checked out some more recent releases, including the thriller Locked, Nobody and its sequel Nobody 2. I watched quite a few other movies over the break, so we'll be having that, Fall 2025 anime once I get caught up on it, and hopefully some manga reviews as well. I also hope to get the next chapter of TKoH out, so let's see what I can get done. Stay tuned.

It's a new year and the gang is about to start a new chapter in their journey. Yes, a new chapter in a literal sense, but you know what I mean. It's time for Chapter 16 of RttW. I don't imagine I'll be getting around to a review post tomorrow, so we'll pick things up next week. Things may get too hectic for a story update, but if I can manage, we'll have the next chapter of TKoH. Stay tuned.

For those of you enjoying your Christmas festivities, today's story update isn't all that well suited to the mood of the season, but I've been watching some rather violent films with my folks, so this seems tame by comparison. After so much downtime and delays, if I can get things out the door, I might as well. Here's Chapter 10 of CoP. I'll try to get the reviews out tomorrow, but things may be a bit hectic, so there may be a slight delay. Stay tuned.

It's four days to Christmas, so what better way to get into the spirit of the season than with Charles Dickens' classic work, A Christmas Carol? We've got the 1951 version, the 1970 musical Scrooge, 1983's Mickey's Christmas Carol, the 1984 version, 1992's The Muppet Christmas Carol, and the 1997 animated version. There are loads of other adaptations of the story, so I think I'll make this a recurring feature for the next few years. If I actually get to doing site stuff amid all the festivities, expect maybe some airplane movies and possibly the first installment of the Fall 2025 anime season. Also be looking for the next chapter of CoP if I can stay on the ball. Stay tuned.

Are you ready to meet our hero? It's time for Chapter 1 of TKoH. Get ready to go a-questing. In other news, be looking for reviews tomorrow. Try not to get boiled in your own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through the heart in the meantime. Stay tuned.

This week we've got three misters, murder and mutiny. From Frank Capra, we have Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Sam Rockwell makes a return after being featured last week, this time with 2015's Mr. Right. Your boy Phillip Marlowe makes another appearance in Murder, My Sweet and Billy Bligh gets a bum rap in Mutiny on the Bounty. In preparation for Christmas, I'm planning on doing a Dickensian special. Also be looking for the next chapter of KoH if all goes well. Stay tuned.

When the cat's around, the mice won't be found. Or something like that. I was thinking of opening with the more conventional line, but the cat is obviously here. We've got the boys getting into some mischief in much-delayed and finally delivered Chapter 15 of RttW. In other news, the mythical manga reviews remain a myth, but there will still be reviews of some sort in the offing. Stay tuned.

For this week's reviews, we set out for the wasteland in Mad Max, Mad Max 2 and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The first two reviews have been sitting in the backlog for years and I leapfrogged them until I could take the time to rewatch the third one for review purposes. Moving on, we close things out with the Howard Hawks-directed Monkey Business and 2009's Moon. I missed the story update this time, but I'm pretty confident I can get it out the gate next week and maybe some of those mythical manga reviews might make an appearance as well. Stay tuned.

We plumb the depths of the movie review backlog, starting with a couple war movies from the 1950s, Men in War and Men of the Fighting Lady. We follow it with the B-movie scifi flick Millennium. We close with a pair of movies from the Aughts, Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise teaming up for Minority Report and from the Second Disney Dark Age, Meet the Robinsons. I swear I'm going to get some manga reviews written eventually. Also, there are a couple reviews I've skipped over because I need the third entry to complete the set, so I'll make a point to watch that. Now that we're back to getting story updates out, my next trick is to get the next chapter of RttW out, so be on the lookout for that. Stay tuned.

It's been about two months, but we've finally got a story update with Chapter 9 of CoP. It's been a rocky road (not the ice cream), but hopefully we can keep things on rails for a while. Looks for reviews tomorrow. Stay tuned.
